Introduction:
Eilean Donan is a small tidal island where three lochs meet, Loch Duich, Loch Long and Loch Alsh, in the western Highlands of Scotland; since the castle's restoration in the early 20th Century, a footbridge has connected the island to the mainland.

Eilean Donan Castle is one of the most recognised castles in Scotland, and probably appears on more shortbread tins and calendars than any other. It is, without doubt, a Scottish icon and certainly one of the most popular visitor attractions in the Highlands.

Long distance Citylink coaches from Glasgow, Fort William and Inverness to the Isle of Skye stop in Dornie, although you should tell the driver / wave at him to stop.During the summer, frequent local buses operated by Stagecoach run to and from Kyle of Lochalsh and Skye.
