Lake Lucerne,Switzerland:

Lake Lucerne  is a lake in central Switzerland and the fourth largest in the country. The lake has a complicated shape, with bends and arms reaching from the city of Lucerne into the mountains. It has a total area of 114 km² (44 sq mi), an elevation of 434 m (1,424 ft), and a maximum depth of 214 m (702 ft). Its volume is 11.8 km³. Much of the shoreline rises steeply into mountains up to 1,500 m above the lake, resulting in many picturesque views including those of Mount Rigi and Mount Pilatus. The Reuss River enters the lake at Flüelen (in the canton of Uri, the part called Urnersee) and exits at Lucerne. The lake also receives the Muota (at Brunnen) Engelberger Aa (at Buochs), the Sarner Aa (at Alpnachstad). It is possible to circumnavigate the lake by road, though the route is slow, twisted, and goes through tunnels part of the way. Steamers and other passenger boats ply between the different towns on the lake. It is a popular tourist destination, both for native Swiss and foreigners, and there are many hotels and resorts along the shores. In addition, the meadow of the Rütli, traditional site of the founding of the Swiss Confederation, is on the southeast shore of the lake. A 35 km commemorative walkway, the Swiss Path, was built around the lake to celebrate the country's 700th anniversary.

Lake Titicaca,Peru and Bolivia:

Lake Titicaca is a lake in the Andes on the border of Peru and Bolivia. By volume of water, it is the largest lake in South America.Lake Maracaibo has a larger surface area, but is often regarded as a large brackish bay due to its direct connection with the sea. It is often called the highest navigable lake in the world, with a surface elevation of 3,812 m (12,507 ft). Although this refers to navigation by large boats, it's generally considered to mean commercial craft. For many years the largest vessel afloat on the lake was the 1931, 2200 ton, 260 ft (79 m), SS Ollanta. Today the largest vessel is probably the similarly sized, but broader, train barge/float Manco Capac operated by PeruRail (located here, on 2013-06-17, across the pier from the the SS Ollanta itself: 15°50′11″S 70°00′53″W). At least two dozen bodies of water around the world are at higher elevations, but all are much smaller and shallower.

Santa Caterina of Amalfi, Italy

Opened in 1904 as a humble guest house, the Hotel Santa Caterina has since transformed into one of the Amalfi Coast's oldest grand hotels. Owned and managed by the same Gambardella family for more than four generations, the property is also a personal expression of local style. Interiors are embellished with 19th-century antiques and hand-painted ceramic tiles, and even more grand are the exteriors with centuries-old gardens and sweeping views of the Bay of Salerno. Elevators cut into the rocks sweep guests to a private beach club complete with a large saltwater pool. The romantic setting amidst orange groves and bright-pink bougainvillea has not been lost on big names: Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton stayed here, as did Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt.

Saskatchewan,Canada:

Saskatchewan is one of Canada's 10 provinces, located in the Prairies. Its southern third is predominantly prairie (with a reputation for being very flat), while its northern two-thirds is covered in the boreal forest of the Canadian Shield. The prairie is known for its seemingly endless fields of wheat, while the north contains the majority of Saskatchewan's 100,000 lakes.Despite Saskatchewan's reputation for its prairie geography, there is a surprising variety of landscapes, including the hills and lakes in the north, a lake with water that is denser than the Dead Sea, and the North and South Saskatchewan rivers. Saskatchewan also features historical sites related to the North-West Rebellion. In 1885, Louis Riel, leader of the Metis (persons of mixed French Canadian, other European and Aboriginal descent), led an uprising against the Canadian government that culminated in the Battle of Batoche. The interpretive centre at Batoche remains a popular tourist destination. While the battles were not particularly large by world standards, the Rebellion was politically significant for the Canadian west, and offers a glimpse into what life was like on the Canadian frontier.
