Introduction:
The Château de Chillon is an island castle located on Lake Geneva, south of Veytaux in the canton of Vaud. It is situated at the eastern end of the lake, on the narrow shore between Montreux and Villeneuve, which gives access to the Alpine valley of the Rhone. Chillon is amongst the most visited castles in Switzerland and Europe.

Chillon Castle is an oval shaped castle that's located on a small, rocky outcrop, poking into Lake Geneva. This little, rocky island is a perfect, defensive little promontory, that's almost been designed to be a defensive spot. For this reason, fortifications have been found here since Roman times.
