Introduction:

Every fall, the trees change colour at this lovely park in Hitachinaka, Ibaraki, Japan. Apart from this fascinating phenomenon that is locally called ‘koyo’, the park is an ideal picnic spot for various reasons. Being a large park, one has the option to rent a cycle or get on to the train called Seaside Train to explore the many wonders that this park has to offer. So if you’re planning a trip to Japan and you want a break from the big city life that Tokyo and Osaka have to offer, here is a countryside escape that offers a lot of calm.

Facts:

Covering an area of 190 hectares, the park features blooming flowers around the year.The park has become known for its baby blue-eyes flowers, with the blooming of 4.5 million of the translucent-petaled blue flowers in the spring drawing tourists. In addition to the annual "Nemophila Harmony", the park features a million daffodils, 170 varieties of tulips, and many other flowers. The park includes cycling trails and a small amusement park with a Ferris wheel.

Hitachi Seaside Park is one of Ibaraki prefecture’s leading tourist spots and had over 350000 visitors during Golden Week this year and from now on MLIT will be carrying out decontamination of the area.
